The initial treatment had been: Skimpy debridement, 2 FINE K-wires + 1 screw
+immediate closure ( in an injury sustained 48hrs previously!)The protruding mass is shaft of humerus covered by granulation tissue.

Severe congenital deformities are relatively common in Zambia, possibly
related to viral infection during early pregnancy. These children respond
very well to early amputation.
 
Blount's Disease. The degree of deformity becomes obvious when the
patellae are pointing forwards.
